10/1/2017 RHETORICALLY ANALYZING "VIOLENCE ERUPTED IN spain AS CATALANS OVERWHELMINGLY VOTED FOR INDEPENDENCE"Read Now"Violence Erupted In Spain As Catalans Overwhelmingly Voted for Independence" an article on Buzzfeed News that was written by Rose Troup Buchanan and Ellen Cushing. These authors appeal to pathos throughout their article when they explain to the readers how many people were brutally injured when police fired rubber bullets on hundreds of people and physically dragging them away from makeshift polling stations in Spain who just wanted independence. The authors appeal to pathos by making the readers of the article feel bad for the people being injured and including images that provide visuals of those who were injured in this incident. They had included multiple videos and images that were provided by social media that display the kind of brutality the police officers were using on such innocent people, both young and old, as if they didn't care. It seemed as if their right to vote had been literally taken away from them as if it were being snatched right out of their bare hands. Above is a video showing how brutal the police officers were being by actually throwing these people around, just because they were voting.
