2/27/2018 rhetorically analyzing "The Florida Teens Started Their Movement In A Parent’s Living Room. Now These Big Progressive Groups Are Helping Them Organize."Read NowAs many have heard, not too recently there was a tragic school shooting in Florida at Marjory Stoneman High School with 17 lives lost. Students are taking the initiative to show how important it is for government officials to reinforce the laws on gun control. In this Buzzfeed article, authors Brianna Sacks and Marry Ann Georgantopoulos discuss this event and how people react to it. In their article, they demonstrate appeals to both ethos and pathos when discussing the heart break many people were put through after the lives of their loved ones were taken away and when discussing the positions of the lawmakers and people of authority of the gun control policies.
For pathos, the authors get to the readers' emotions when discussing that these students, feeling hurt and unsafe take matters into their own hands to march for better gun control in order to keep their schools safe and protect the lives of friends and family. On the ethos appeal, there were many lawmakers that these students planned to meet in order to stress the idea that stricter gun policies must be in place in order to avoid any type of issues such as the school shooting in the future. Overall, this article was very interesting. It opened my eyes about how the gun control policies in America really work and how they can be reinforced with more rules and regulations to keep people safe. It also showed that students can make a change if they all work together to show the importance. In this case, it just took the loss of many lives for them to see that something has to be done in the future and these lawmakers shouldn't have to wait for something like this, or something even worse to occur again to then decide that an action needs to take place. These teens had a plan to keep people safe, and it seems as though they won't stop until something is done. https://www.buzzfeed.com/maryanngeorgantopoulos/parkland-teens-organization?utm_term=.konDbmx37#.sbaxNA1J7
